sigh of relief
I just want to take a moment to sigh aloud. ahhhhh! After Thursday night’s class, I feel a bit better about the upcoming assignment. Until now, it has felt like this dark cloud looming in the distance, coupled with several other dark clouds from my other course. I have been bracing myself for the impending storm, but now I see a bit more sunshine breaking through the darkness. I now feel much better about what is actually expected of us for this cultural analysis, and that helps me breath a bit better. Talking about the paper in class was incredibly helpful. Last night I sat down with my Schein text and the paper guidelines, and I began taking some notes to prepare me for the assignment. I found it quite easy to write notes about my organization and how it relates to Schein’s ideas. I really like the fact that we are able to write about our own organizations, because it is actually quite fun to relate what we’re learning to these places where we work every day.
I also feel a lot better about the looming assignments for my evaluation methods class. My group has finally established a clear focus for the group case study, and I don’t think the evaluation proposal will be quite as intimidating as it once seemed ( hopefully!)
It’s amazing what happens when I slow down, take a step at a time, and breath.
I will close with some Bob Marley lyrics…
“every little thing is gonna be alright, so baby don’t worry about a thing…”

HAHA…you are too funny. I am glad that you were able to slow things down and get on the right track. Things can definitely feel overwhelming at times in this degree program, which is a good thing! We are challenged…and we learn from those challenges. I think our upcoming cultural analysis is going to be a VERY interesting assignment for us all…and I look forward to hearing what new things we might have learned as a result. I think I have a pretty good grasp of my own culture at work, but something tells me I am going to uncover much more…and that can certainly be a good thing!
